Taking possession of spaces: whether humans and animals inhabiting different places, plants growing roots, trailing and climbing onto various surfaces, viruses implanting themselves within an organism. These behaviours are not unlike the relationship a jewellery wearer has with their jewellery piece. To insert your finger into a ring, to clasp a pin onto a shirt, to hook an earring or even to implant something into one’s skin to adorn one’s body.

:Madical equipment? , 2013
Pendant or more, brass
Photo & VDO by Monticha Sriyoschati

It has begun when Pam or Monticha Sriyodschat, my jewelry-making pupil, brought home her copper and brass works. Instantly after regarding his daughter’s artworks, Prof. Somchai Sriyodschat felt very much attractive and thought about using the same materials to remodel the graft sizer, a medical equipment for gauging the size of distorted blood vessel.
The equipment generally verifies the real size of blood vessel in order to choose the correct size of artificial blood vessel for clients. Nevertheless, it is quite inadequately convenient that these graft sizers have always been imported from abroad and the models are often unfit for the treatments.
Professor Somchai therefore wants to modify the graft sizer to be more suitable. I had been asked from him then that could this be done. As a contemporary jeweller, I feel interest and decide to accept the challenge. Having a little bit of thought makes me feel that at the very least, the graft sizer should, at the same time, be a ‘jewelry’.
The heart figure on the handle of the graft sizer would remind its duty and serve as a jewelry whenever whose necklace has been thread through. Everything, everyone has duty. I make an equipment for a doctor. A doctor uses it for clients. Beauty will ultimately appear by having two different professions join, not by the visual feature neither nor the vision of how the object works.

Untitled, 2012
Wearable piece, 925 silver, copper, wood

To me “The end of the world in 2012″ was just another rumor created without any proof.
The piece of jewelry i created is to be kept in a shirt
pocket. Every time a wearer moves.
Noises will be heard. It is just like
rumors tha can be heard every time human beings move….their ,ouths.
